Online Stress Management Training – Is it a must have topic in the employee training list?

Its been 30 years now, that April is observed as the Stress Awareness Month across the globe. This year the month of April truly stood significant in terms of developing the awareness of the stress we are going through, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Much before the onset of Covid-19 a survey conducted by the Mental Health Foundation found that about 75% of people simply felt that they were unable to cope with the daily stress that they encountered. Definitely this percentage would have only increased with the onset of this pandemic. The figures definitely indicates a desperate need of being aware of the Mental Health Issues, which if neglected, can take wilder dimensions like anxiety, depression and a lot more.

While I am sure that no one could claim to have a magic wand or an all-encompassing mantra to pass through this pandemic untouched, here are few but remarkably effective practices that will help you sail through.

1) Physical Activity – While I’m not a hardcore exercise freak, it is necessary to ensure that your body experiences quite a lot of physical movements. Though practicing Yoga is ideal, you may ensure enough brisk walking, or using the stairs instead of the lift or worst case walk inside the house for about 30 to 40 minutes.

2) Nutrition – Yes, you will have to be extra cautious about what you eat especially in this period where the tendency to be liberal as far as choosing food is fairly high. With so much of information floating on the internet, you may possibly get thoroughly confused as to what to eat and what not to. So here is a universal suggestion – Eat lot of Vegetables, Grains, Legumes and Fruits. Also avoid any non-vegetarian food in the evening.

3) Take regular Breaks – While you may be tempted to stay at your work desk for extended period of time, it’s a great idea to be aware of the new sedentary pattern and consciously take a well deserved break to refresh the body and the mind. If you are sitting at one place for more than an hour, its important to take a quick break from whatever you are into and move around for about ten to fifteen minutes before you embark on your next slot.

4) Sleep – In India, In Ayurveda, Sleep is considered to be a pillar of wellness. This pillar incidentally has to be painted in white since it remains a very crucial pillar especially in this pandemic time. Though some modern genX executives boasts proudly about the night out stories, providing the body with adequate sleep is an absolute must. It is never a bad idea to invest your time in take a short course on sleep online and understand its amazing benefits for the body and the mind.

5) Relationships – Words would fall short if I begin to write the importance of this factor in our lives. Look at the whole pandemic as a boon and take this opportunity to connect with individual you can possibly connect with. Drop all inhibitions and invest your time in getting in touch with your old friends, relatives and loved ones.

Considering these points with a serious approach and practicing these suggestions can go a long way in setting the stage for coping with the unprecedented pandemic and our physical and mental wellness too. Online Stress Management Webinars is the most sought after training topic especially for employees working in virtual teams especially post August 2020.
